The other side of the world

After a long 9 months I am posting on a blog again...who can believe it! Ever since March/April in California life has been pretty busy for us.
Big news #1: Claudio and I registered our marriage in Mozambique, which was NOT an easy task.
#2: Claudio has many jobs now, the main job as the Lawyer for Wings Like Eagles (www.wingslikeeagles.net) and many side jobs as a lawyer
#3: I quit my job as Financial Controller with
Neda Engenharia Lda. This was a big struggle for me because I could have had a really good future with this company. I decided to leave because I didn't want to be in any way attached to the corruption that I discovered in the company.
#4: I am now working for Wings Like Eagles with Claudio. This is a helicopter relief organization that is starting in Mozambique. It's really exciting because I finally have a job that uses my strengths. We are working in aviation and helping those in need.
#5: WE BOUGHT A CAR!!!! It is a 1993 Toyota Surf. Claudio wasn't too sure about the car at first because he thought it looked to girly, but he now loves the car!
I think that's about it for now, I can't wait to hear how the rest of you are doing!

Hey Alyssa! We got our car too--we ended up with a 2004 Subaru Outback. I can't believe that your car is 15 years old and you had to pay that much for it!! On the other hand, it looks like new in the picture. Hopefully it will last a long time for you guys. We sure do miss you. Keep us updated on your plans. Love you!

Hey,

I like the truck, it looks sporty. Kind of like an off road racing machine. Is it a 4-wheel drive?

Way to go with the job decision, sometimes its tough to stand for what is right, then when you do, God sends a blessing that is something you never would of had if you hadn't made that stand.

By the way, it is so cool being able to keep in touch with my nieces especially when they live in Africa. Say hello to Claudio for me.

yeah...buying a car here is pretty ridiculous. All of the cars are old and imported from Japan. The cars are so expensive because when they are imported they need to pay a lot of taxes...if I would have brought the 350Z here I would have had to pay $25,000 in taxes alone. CRAZY!

and yes Uncle Tom...it's a 4-wheel drive racing machine!!! I love it! We really needed to get a 4-wheel drive car because of the roads here. This car is such a blessing to us!

I love being able to stay in contact with you all as well! I'll be sure to put more pics up!

Alyssa & Claudio:

It's amazing to be able to connect around the world in minutes the way we can. It wasn't such a long time ago that it would take a month or more for news to get from one coast to the other in this country.

So good to see your pictures and hear from you. This blog will be in our favorites list so look forward to hearing about your lives.

Love,

Tim
